FREEMAN RINK ADVANCES TO THE SAFEWAY SELECT

The Graham Freeman rink had a weekend to remember, winning 5 straight
games, to advance to the Provincial Championships in Beausejour, Mb
on Feb 10 to the 13th.

This was no easy matter, as it meant beating perennial champ....
the Murray Warren rink from Deloraine. On Saturday morning,
Freeman had to steal 3 ends in a row to edge Warren and then on Sunday
afternoon, they counted 5 in the 2nd and then ran Warren out of rocks
in the 10th to win the berth to the provincials.

Freeman's team is as follows;

Skip - Graham Freeman
Third - Dwayne Barkley ( throws lead stones )
Second - Kevin Barkly
Lead - Cory Barkley ( throws 3rd stones )

Dinner Theatre Fundraiser scheduled for September!

Hello Everyone! I'm sure everyone will be excited to know that the Virden Curling Club, along with Tumbleweed Productions, will be hosting a dinner theatre on September 25 at the club, with all proceeds going to the new Recreation Complex.

The Irish dinner theatre, titled "Lafferty's Wake" will be performed by our own local talent, some of your fellow club members are part of the cast, and I am told is an absolutely hilarious production with lots of laughs and even a little audience particapation.

Tickets are $30, and that includes what will be an excellent meal courtesy of Mrs. Thelma Quinn. All members and invited guests are welcome, and ticket reservations can be placed by phoning Cathy at 748-3136.

The club is very lucky to have local talent to showcase in such a way, and are so glad to have the "Tumbleweed's" on board for what should be an excellent fundraiser. Please tell your fellow members and friends to book your tickets quickly as we expect a sell out crowd for what should be a very entertaining evening!

Have a great summer!
