Hello all former and present VCC club members!
It's Movember, the month formerly known as November, which is dedicated to growing moustaches and raising awareness and funds for men's health. I have joined the movement and will be donating my upper lip to the cause for 30 days. My Mo will spark conversations, and no doubt generate some laughs; all in the name of raising vital awareness and funds prostate cancer.
Why am I so passionate about men’s health? * On average men live 4-5 years less than women * 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime * 25,500 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year in Canada
I invite you to support me by donating to me http://mobro.co/CBiscuit. You can even go old school and write a cheque payable to “Movember Canadaâ€, reference my name and Registration Number 1834118 and send it to:
Movember Canada, 119 Spadina Avenue, PO Box 65, Toronto, ON M5T 2T2
If you'd like to find out more about the type of work you'd be helping to fund by supporting Movember, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website: http://ca.movember.com/about
Thank you in advance for supporting my efforts to change the face of men's health. All donations are tax deductible. Please forward this email on to anyone who might want to donate to this cause.

Virden Club Playdowns - Dominion Championship November 18-20
We will be holding the Dominion Club Playdowns on the weekend of November 18-20 at the Virden Curling Club. This event is to determine a men's and women's rep to represent the VCC at the Dominion Regional Playdowns in February at an undetermined Westman location. The winner of that event would then represent Westman at the Provincials in March at the Neepawa Curling Club.
All current mens and womens club teams are eligible to participate, under the following guidelines:
The Dominion Curling Club Championship
ELIGIBILITY 2012
We trust that all participants will respect the intent of this championship. The event is formulated for true club curlers, not elite, past or present. The objective is to support ordinary curlers and the development of curling across Canada. We keep this objective in mind as we set our eligibility requirements and on-ice rules, including the CCA Rules of Curling for General Play. The Dominion reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to exclude any team that violates this spirit and intent.
1. The curling club represented by the team must be affiliated with its Provincial/Territory Association.
2. Each club will declare a men's team and women's team of 4 players that played together regularly, in a sanctioned club league in the most recent season, excluding major/super leagues, to represent the club as the men's and women's club champions.
3. Each team will be allowed only 1 player who has played in a Juniors'(new), Men's, Women's or Seniors' provincial/territory event in the current or previous 4 years, or participated in a Grand Slam event in the current or previous 4 years.*
4. All games will be 8 ends with ties being decided by a full extra end.
5. A maximum of 1 replacement player from the club can play lead.
6. Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 players under the age of 20, as of December 31st of the year prior to the championship (minimum age of 15 as of December 31st).**
7. The Dominion has the sole authority to grant exceptions to these rules in extraordinary circumstances.
*Provinces/Territories with open provincials/territories will be permitted 1 player who has placed top four in a Juniors', Men's, Women's or Seniors' provincial/territory event in the current or previous 4 years, or participated in a Grand Slam event in the current or previous 4 years.
**Individual curling associations may adopt more restrictive criteria if they choose.
Entry fee for the event for each team is $80. We will also only accept entries of club teams that have 3 of the original team members available to play, as the idea of the event is to promote the "club curling team".
To enter, please call Cory Barkley at 851-5485, or email corybarkley@andrewagencies.com for more details. # of games guaranteed will be determined by amount of entries.
We felt this to be a good way to promote the event, and provide some excitement and have a great club event at the club.

Heaman Team Rolling at Dominion
Bob Heaman's rink is having a turn around run at the Provincial Dominion. After losing their first 2 games in their 4 team round robin pool, they came back and won their final round robin game, then a pair of tiebreakers (all in convincing fashion 8-1, 8-1, and 10-1 victories) and are now playing in the semi final of the event, 2 wins away from being Provincial Club Champions. Good luck fellas!
